Texas Bluebonnet Award
Each year all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders read these outstanding titles, and then vote for their favorite one. The mission of the Bluebonnet Award program is to encourage Texas children to read more books, develop powers of discrimination, and to identify their favorite books.
Lone Star Reading Lists
The Texas Lone Star list is a recommended reading list developed by public and school librarians from the Young Adult Round Table. The purpose of the list is to encourage students in grades 6, 7, or 8 to explore a variety of current books.
2x2 Reading List
The 2X2 Committee‘s charge is to produce a list of 20 recommended books for children, age two to grade two.
Maverick Graphic Novel Reading List
The Texas Maverick Graphic Novels Reading List (TMGNRL) is a recommended reading list developed by public and school librarians from the Young Adult Round Table (YART). The purpose of the list is to encourage students in grades 6-12 to explore a variety of current books.

Caldecott Medal
The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
Newberry Medal
The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
